okay, here we have latest release of this little but angry crust grind machinery called Matrak Attakk which are already well familiar to regular readers here, originally from Belgium and currently shattered in squats over France and Italy - their split LP with Persona Non Data hc punk/crust unit from Netherlands.. I could easily write a book about my sympathies towards Matrak Attakk and how much I like this band from their beginnings and mostly not just musically but what this band represents and how it works but I will try to focus just on this release this time..
so let’s start with record itself, which is simplest as can be, pressed on black vinyl, wrapped in "dirty white" ordinary cover sleeve which feels like some kind of recycled cardboard under your fingers with beautiful artwork/graphic on Matrak Attakk side while Persona Non Data one is decorated with somehow, a bit terrifying photo of family in front of small demolished barrack.. inside you’ll find little booklet with lyrics, even short explanations of the same from PND side, some artworks, photos and list of labels involved in releasing this split, which is impressive (even 10!..see above which ones) and I really like and support this kind of collaboration among diy labels.. it’s already known fact that MA insists for their records to be as cheapest as possible and I’m completely fine with that and encourage this kind of thinking because today too much records of crust and even anarcho-punk bands (which is absolutely contradictory) are unnecessarily decked out with some extras, pressed on all kinds of colored vinyl or are wrapped in fancy shiny covers which raise its price to the clouds, but only thing that is missing here is that track list isn’t printed anywhere, not on the covers neither in booklet, considering it wouldn’t affected much on price, and the whole impression would probably be better this is only minus for this record I can find..
and now about important things - music part.. material for this split by both bands was recorded during 2022 but because already known reasons with covid, popularity of vinyl formats lately, delays from pressing plants and all other it was officially out and released somewhere at the beginning of this year, in March to be more precise..
on Matrak Attakk side we have 5 songs of radical crusty anarcho-punk with some grind elements mixed in.. even from their beginnings this grind side was more represented, on last few releases and after few line up changes it seems they evolved more towards anarcho-punk with a lot of spoken word parts and angrier and more engaged lyrics than ever, again sung on combo of English and Italian shouted and screamed by very specific female vocals which are very diverse from part to part and somehow hard to get used to (I remember when I first time heard early records they reminded me on all those Super Mario noises and sounds from old Nintendo game, hahaha) but once you absorb them and all sets in its place the whole thing will start sounding just as it should, super angry, wild and awesome.. they were always a little harder to describe band and has this pretty original sound, probably just one more reason I like them so much..
on the other side, relatively unknown band, at least to me, I’ve never heard of them before this split was announced few years back and that’s just shame cause they are really interesting.. even they call themselves metal punk band I don’t hear much metal here, just pure energetic, on the moments crusty hardcore punk with great sounding dual female vocals which complements each other nicely, the ones from Harum Scarum latest albums comes to mind, but even more, the first 30 seconds of the opening song unbelievable strongly reminds me on Polish melodic punks Eye For An Eye which is maybe unlikely comparison, but you’ll hear for yourself.. there are 7 songs all together which makes little lengthy material than this of MA, but until the end this first track somehow stays the best because it has so powerful beginning and contagious refrain (check lyrics, hehe) and maybe it's a shame to spend the best track on the beginning, but there are still some fun ride until the end of this album anyway.. lyrically they are similar to their comrades on this record, engaged, although not in structure because MA ones are more in length but both are anarcho colored and covering usual topics as nature, police, feminism, social justice, repressive state, etc.. the point is that I don’t understand how this band was so unknown to me, they sure deserve more attention and also I’m pretty sure they sounds awesome live..
anyhow this is one really nice record and if you are looking for some highly energetic crusty hard core punk which may cause some serious rebellious madness side effects, this one is for you, highly recommended..

it is of course still available for fair price from 10 to 12 € from diy labels from all around the Europe or from the bands, as both are active with touring maybe this is good way to get your copy to avoid more and more expensive postage.. so go get it and support the bands and labels, still if you can't afford it there are online options as always and it can be easily found for free download on bandcamp or some rare blog..
