new album from my favorite melodic metal punks is finally out, exactly 10 years after their last release.. Loš Primjer isn't a band that churns out albums every year or two, but every time they've recorded something in their impressive nearly 30-years of existence, they've created something special.. this time, they've even surpassed themselves because with "Puls Univerzuma" they've taken everything to a whole new level.. it's still their signature sound: energetic melodic, sing-along punk with fierce metal guitars, infectious rhythms and as always, powerful lyrics.. but on this album they've added various little details, like several guest appearances, a cover of the old rock band Indexi, short segments with new instruments, a stronger and cleaner production than ever, awesome cover art and even with Filip seriously challenging his own vocal abilities in some songs have given the entire album an extra dimension, making it more accessible, even to a part of the audience outside the strict diy punk framework..
all together there are 10 great new songs that are just right, they're not too similar to each other, which only makes the whole thing more interesting.. as they themselves say, the entire album is somehow conceptual, it has a story and exactly that feeling that lingers after listening.. if you're a true fan, you'll notice that they use a few lines from previous albums in some songs, for example in “Uniforme” and “Razoružan Potpuno”, to hell, even the album name comes from an old song "Pulse of the Universe" which all seems like a neat details and a nice tribute to the older materials..
while the song “Hej Biskupe” is a tribute to their hometown, in true fast hardcore style (on the first listening, Motus or even new Nuclear Altar comes to mind instantly), exposes the ugly reality of Požega and Slavonija, as well as the entire country in this current sad times..
along with the two lead singles, “Ratoubilački Brat” and “Uzmi Slobode” which have already completely wormed their way into our ears, as the strongest tracks I would also single out “Uniforme”, “Mlada Rasa” and “Razoružan Potpuno” which all have very powerful lyrics and a message and they immediately won me over and I think they have the potential to become the biggest hits from this album.. somehow I feel sorry they didn't respect the tradition with one song on English as on all other albums, but we won't take it for serious this time because they treated us with one more real masterpiece.. somehow I believed that their last album "Slikovnica" was the highest
point that one diy punk band could reach but it seems that with this one
they are going even further..
the album is currently available in digital format on all available streaming services, while vinyl and cassette editions are in preparation and will be released by the end of the year.. vinyls are already available for pre-order at Lumer Shop and Dirty Old Empire, while Radnja and Mañuga tapes will handle the cassette edition..
