I received an e-mail from this band, from Mysh the vocalist, to be more precise, a long long time ago and promised that I will put this info and their releases here, but because of my huge laziness, then because my bad memory and so on, it didn't happened all 'till now.. apologies goes to Mysh for waiting so long..

"PARTiYA band was formed in Minsk (Belarus) in September 2000. We are playing crusty punk. Now it is more crust with elements of grind. At first there were 3 guys in the band, starting the summer 2009 there are 4 members.
Today PARTiYA is:
Mysh - vocals;
Obezyana - guitar, back-vocal;
Elka - bass;
Majonez - drums.

About records (what is usually called discography):
• «A/YA» (we don't distribute it now from our personal considerations).
• «GARAGE-CONCERT» – demo record.
• test record which includes 4 tracks. There we experimented with sound. The result wasn't very good. So these songs were not included anywhere.
• «PUNK IS MY LIFE!» - record of 2003 - [download]
• PARTiYA / LOS ESPECTROS split-disk of bands from Belarus and Puerto-Rico. Songs for a split are taken from «Punk Is My Life!» and «Despierta» records; split was released in Finland in 2004 - [download]

BELARUSIAN D.I.Y. PUNK SCENE report

Independent DIY punk-scene appeared in Belarus in the ending of the 90th. First of all it has started up in two Belarusian cities: Grodno and Minsk. Grodno is a city that's located near the Polish border and all independent information had come from there. The first punk-rock band that became the generator of all the anarchy ideas was called DEVIATION. By the way, this band still exists. Minsk is the capital of Belarus, therefore independent punk-rock appeared there quickly too, mostly with the help of a band called HATE TO STATE; bassist from this band was also busy with “NO MANIPULATION” distro and published “DON’T PANIC!” fanzine. And it's not surprising that these things helped developing and extending new DIY-ideas in the country. In the beginning of 2000th a set of different punk-hardcore bands has appeared. But in almost every case, these were bands which existed for a really short time, played just 1-2 gigs and then broke up not more then in a year. Sometimes they made a recording. There were many of them, but now almost everyone broke up.

From the outset of the DIY scene development we know just some attempt of squatting. Sometimes guys just rented a flat for a really miserable price and lived there. One of the most famous place, which was evicted few years ago, is a squat “MASTERSKAYA”, which was active for a few months in 2008. By the way, the film about this squat was created in Russian and is available with English subtitles. Link here: www.375crew.org (last news; click on the words “скачать”). This site was not updated for more than a year, but there it is possible to find some information about Belarusian scene and download some .mp3 of Belorussian bands, which existed earlier or exist this very moment.
Today we don't have as many bands as for example on the period of 2003-2008. In that time bands were created even in the small towns. But some bands still exist, we have gigs and it’s excellent! Probably, now small towns have many bands too, but they're absolutely underground and we cannot hear anything about them. So, here is the list of the most active bands for this moment with their short descriptions and contacts, which were possible to find:

DEVIATION (Grodno) – formed in 1995. As we wrote, it’s one of the first bands. They are playing punk rock sometimes mixed it with folk elements. They have clear anarchist position and really politized lyrics. 4 full albums were recorded and set of gigs in Belarus was set.

PARTIYA (Minsk) – was formed in 2000 and is also one of the oldest bands of Belarusian scene. They started to play middle tempo punk rock, but gradually sped up and began to play harder. As a result, they are playing powerful and fast crust punk. The band had played lots of gigs in Belorussia, during 2007-2010 made 5 tours for Europe, and also gave concerts in the neighbour countries. DESTROYERS (Minsk) – was formed in 2003 and is playing punk-hardcore. It’s one of the UK82 style bands, that are still playing. The band has 3 good albums. Now they are recording a new album. And they visited near and distant foreign countries several times.

BAGNA (Grodno) – the band appeared in 2005 after the legendary Grodno band CONTRA LA CONTRA's breaking up. They are playing melodic d-beat/crust punk with nice politized lyrics. It’s one of the best bands in Belarus this moment. They have 2 splits (split CD w/I KNOW from Minsk and split 7” EP w/SKARPRETTER from Denmark) + unreleased tracks. They visited Europe with tours too.

I KNOW (Minsk) – the band appeared in 2005 and plays melodic crust-punk with anarcho-lyrics. Several time they visited Europe with tours and they’re known enough there. Discography: split CD w/BAGNA, split CD w/STAGNATION IS DEATH from Poland, and also 10” and 7”. Now they’re preparing to release a split CD w/ E123 from Russia.

BRUD KROU (Minsk) – another band from the capital city. They’re playing something similar to crust-hardcore with elements of the Swedish old-school hardcore. Also, as many Belarusian bands of this genre, they have very politized lyrics. They have one demo and split 7” w/ZORKA from Russia. At the moment the group is not playing...

I HOPE YOU DIE (Grodno) – the band was formed in 2006, and is playing melodic hardcore/crust. They recorded two demos and one EP. It's been told that band has broken up, but it’s not a fact. The band is very good, playing music of good quality with not less qualitative lyrics.

ALL DAY NIGHT (Minsk) – young enough, but already quite famous band, they were the first, who started playing neo-crust/dark hardcore here. Excellent sound and excellent lyrics. They recorded their debut album and visited Russia with mini-tour. Now they’re very active, often have gigs, and I hope that in future they’ll get success.

KAWAKAMI NIGHTMARE (Gomel/Kiev, Ukraine) – the band with the members from different cities. They’re playing noise and filthy d-beat with influence of DISCLOSE. Enough young band, had played some gigs and had recorded one demo and split CD w/DISGÖD from Indonesia.

DISHARMONIA (Gomel) – the first Belarusian band, which started to play d-beat/punk here. Young band, but perspective. Had recorded one album.

TOO MUCH BRAINS (Minsk) – one more young band (2009), which playing punk-hardcore. Sometimes they have playing gigs. Had recorded split with the next band:

DAMAGES (from Minsk too) – on this moment they’re in the process of recording a songs for split with Ukrainian band NE ZLAMATY!

VSIO VRANYO (Mogilev) – was formed by some ex-members of SIN PUESTO – the first D.I.Y. punk-hardcore band in Mogilev. They’re playing crust/hardcore with two male vocals.

ABSURD (from the Belorussian hinterland) – they’re exists from 2004 and playing punk-rock. They have some recordings and some splits.

MONDAY SUICIDE (Grodno) – was formed in the ending of 2010. They have one 5-songs demo of cool garage punk-rock.

wow, such a good gigs like this one doesn't happened so often.. it doesn't need to mention that I was thrilled when I heard for this 2 days ago.. it's already well known that I am a big fan of Požega's bands and now 5 of them play at the same gig.. it will be good compound of old and new forces (here I think on bands itself, it's basically the same crew of people circulating in those bands..) so besides 3 old Pž bands we will be able to see 2 new ones.. I really, really do hope that I will get free Friday at work and that we will arrange some transport to go there..

I've found this video on you tube a few days ago.. there is, I think the whole show of Pisschrist, well known Australians, which doesn't exist anymore, unfortunately, but this video is a nice document of their existence.. recordings are from gig they were playing together with Sotatila, Pavilionul 32 and Nakot in Belgrade back in 2008.. it means 23min of d-beat destruction.. enjoy!..

La Casa Fantom in Croatia

but, hey.. we have great alternative on 22.10., instead of Patareni in Ljubljana in Zagreb are coming a very interesting duo from Norwegian woods LA CASA FANTOM, cool crust band with bass and drums only.. it's hard to define their music (I would say melodic crust, but with bunch of influences and parts from other genres but also with deep roots in hardcore punk..) but one is sure, they delivers to us a bunch of, as they says: "the intensity, the aggression and the emotions"..they exist since 2000. and this is not their 1st time to visiting Croatia (if I'm not wrong..)..
at their gig in Zagreb at club Jedinstvo they will be supported by young band from Zagreb THE DAMAGE IS DONE..
also this won't be their only gig in Croatia.. day before on 21.10. they will be visiting Rijeka and playing in club Place together with Slovenians LEECHFEAST..
so see you in Zagreb, and maybe, who the hell knows that, in Rijeka, too..
be sure to check them if you would have an opportunity, they are considered to be a great live band..

What we aim to do?

The Whit Marley Building has been left empty for a number of years. Much has been striped out an the building is slowly detoriating. Buildings like this are part of Birmingham’s heritage, we want to take care of it while it is unused and put it to use as a comunity centre.

We are currently doing up the building and creating meeting spaces which we want to let groups use for free. Some of us are university students, some of us are teachers and we aim to provide free A level and GCSE tution in most subjects once the building has been done up. We are aimming to run a “Free Shop” in which people will be able to drop off unused items for others to take for free.

Why are we doing this?

We want to make a point about waste, Birmingham has the most abandoned buildings in the country and sadly the highest rates of homelessness. We live in a society that is intesensly wasteful we are doing this because we want something that is visibly the opposite.

We all have strong politicial convictions; we live in times and a country where the whims of media barons are given more attention by governments than ordinary people. Viable and profitable pensions are being raided to give money to the rich, education is again being made a preserve of the few… we want change and if you think like us come join us.

The tea shop is now open at the social centre everyday 10am-5pm. Comfy sofas, lots of reading materials are provided along with as much tea as you drink. It is a anti-capitalist cafe, so pay/donate whatever you can afford or think is fair.
Come by and spend sometime chilling soon.

"Keeping on…

Met on the streets and squats during the riot days of December, we find our starting points in historical, social, class, even temperamental causes and of course in the murder of Alexis from the cap Korkoneas. A peak incident, a spark in the powder keg where social peace and consent reside, an acceleration factor of an unprecedented social explosion. An explosion which smashed in multiple levels the suffocating regularity of our life. The feast of December blew up the barren individuality, the insulated private. A collective, wild “WE” rushed in the streets to attack Democracy and its guardians, together with the imagination context it accompanies. Neither demanding nor requesting but self organizing its reality inside the occupied buildings. Placed a sharp criticism upon the soliloquy of commodity destroying and profanating its temples, redelivering the social wealth and paralyzing consummation in the city’s centre. Denied the ambitions of the conceited leftist mediators, leaving them murmuring sociological bullshit in the TV frames. Cancelled the spasmodic cries of the journalists making crystal clear that who he/she wants to understand what’s going on, has no other choice than getting out of home. Temporarily it demolished the spectacular and gender roles, since thousands of people managed to function as one body, through incidents where the importance was on the incident itself and not on the individual who provoked it.

From the other side, the state , the bosses and all this rabble whose interests are in line with stagnancy, did not remain spectators, from the moment they began to reorganize themselves. Reclaimed the return to normality, activating all they had in hand. From M.A.T. and para-govermentals to sociologists and sensitive artists. From the regimental advocates about extremists, gangs, under miners, Greek-enemies, until the peaceful citizen’s arrogation for their right to celebrate Christmas. From the hypocritical self criticism of the elders in front their children until the arrest of 265 rioters and the detention of 65. Indeed, whatever they had in hand, in order to turn December into a “sullen parenthesis” in the end of which the extremists are punished and the drifted belectured.

Keeping on,

the insurrection of December is still inspiring the social reality in a decisive way. The situation conserves its polarizing and intensive character producing incidents from both the sides. Only in the framework of the contents that December offered can some facts be clearly understood. These include the attack with acid on the face of the syndicalist K.Kouneva, the mass killing attempt at the immigrants’ place, the reorganization of the military and juridical arsenal of the state, and the reactivation of the mere conservative social reflexives that is on process the last days.

At the same time, extended social bodies constantly produce ideas, activities and strategies with December, the obvious starting point. From metro stations, to bureaucratic, syndicalistic centres, from labour areas to hospitals’ offices, from parks and neighbourhoods to temples of the spectacle, the self organization undertakings are spreading, getting socialized and enriched, to become the means, the tools and the methods for reformulation of the every day routine, for attacking capitalistic relations and the democracy regime. They appear to be some of the essential constituents of a total radicalization process, which seem to have duration and depth.

Keeping on,

to the point we are products and productive components of the new social condition, we decided to squat the abandoned building in Patission 61 and Skaramagka, in order to realize on this place many of our desires and dreams, in order to turn it to a rushing point for the life we want. To turn it to an open, social place where collectively, fellowly, and in a self organization culture we’ll become a part of a wider conspiracy for the destruction of this world. Against every kind of hierarchy and authority. Against every political and commercial mediation. Against every spectacular role and gender separation. On this attempt, we’re looking for collaborators…"

the hardworking crew from Agipunk aren't just having great label and awesome distribution but with their booking for some of the finest crust bands and their euro tours they are doing an excellent job.. after so many great bands in the past (Hellbastard, Massgrave, After the Bombs, Gurkha and many others), then Hellshock last year, Parasytix and Nux Vomica this year they will treat us with one more delicacy - Besthoven from Brasil, legendary band active from 1990!
and this isn't all.. company to this d-beat machine will be also legendary Kontatto (d-beat crust) from Italy and their countrymen Noia (blackened crust)..
of course they will be not visiting Croatia (we are not so lucky) but the closest point where they will be playing is Ilirska Bistrica, Slovenia on 10.08. so I hope that we will see you there.. it will also be the 1st day of the tour..

here's one more band and its record by the request of band members.. this time punks Auweia! from Cologne, Germany.. one of the rare, at least as I had opportunity to hear lately that still plays punk.. when I say punk I think on good old sound of punk, not today's commercial bullshits.. Ullah send me some info about the band and some other projects which they are involved in, so here they are..

"We're a band from Düsseldorf/Köln/Berlin and we're playing together since 2004. Influence is the German punksound from the 80ties. Bands like Tin Can Army, Canal Terror, Slime, Toxoplasma and Razzia...
We made a demo tape before with our friends from the band T.O.D. You can get it here.
We prefer the diy scene and are involved in it. Our Songs are a mix of political punk and funny/personal songs because we think that political punk is very important but you have to keep your sense of humor. So we can sing a song against homophobia and also about ghostpirates ;)
Our drummer also plays in the band Versus
I sing in another band that is a project of friends with members of Pestpocken, Kackophonia, Azrael, Rejected Youth and Ss-kapiert called Projekt Chaos.
We recorded just one song for the Feature chaostage in which Danny and me appear. It is called Innenstadtüberfall. The other band that is called Projekt Chaos you can find on you tube is a fucking neo nazi band that stole the name from us. But you will hear it because we play some kind of Chaos Punk and they Play rock shit. You can listen to our song on YouTube here
We're planning to go on European tour in September or next year. Maybe record a new album next year. I don't know. But who knows what the Future brings ;)

so this is 1'st LP of Auweia! with quite decent 15 songs.. I can't say on who they remind me or something 'cause I don't listen such kind of music very often but I can say that in their music can be noticed influences from old punk bands from '80s, as this is already mentioned in info above..
songs are from fast to some slower, more hymnic, in some songs you can even hear a sound of trumpets.. simple and without unnecessary complicating, I would say.. in short good old Deutsche-punk.. if you like this style of music I'm sure you won't be disappointed with Auweia!
singer sings in German, but on cover scans which are included in folder you can read some explanations of songs on English..record is nearly sold out so band offers it for a free download..

"Got any positive, funny or random stories from your squatting experiences?

We‘re putting together an exhibition and zine with positive squatting stories to contradict and show the other side to squatting, to the one regurgitated again and again by the mainstream media.
Wherever you squatted, be it Brixton or Kurdistan, or whether you squat now or you did in the 70s, any positive stories are welcomed – the more varied in time & place the better. Some of the stories we have so far include from after the second world war when families took refuge by squatting abandoned army barracks, as so many homes had be bombed in the blitz, as well as some stories of how newly arrived Asian families to Britain gave up the council housing they had received to squat together in empty estates to avoid the racial abuse they were suffering.
Your stories don‘t have to be this extreme though, anything that is positive, funny or in some way a success of managing to stick it up to the landlords or a successful use of squatting for a protest or campaign, is very much welcomed. The stories don‘t have to be your own experiences but can be ones of friends, or ones you‘ve heard, just so long as they are true.
Any good pictures you might have that can accompany the stories would be brilliant too. Also, if you have pictures of transformations you‘ve made turning a destroyed building into a beautiful home, they would also be really appreciated. Of course you can be completely anonymous from anything you contribute.

RADIKALNA PROMJENA / BAD JUSTICE / DEMANT - 3 way split tape (1997?!)

another piece of treasure from 90's Croatian hardcore punk scene.. this time released by the Truemmer-Pogo-Tapes from Germany which is active still today, btw..
bands included in this "trio tape!" are Demant from Križevci, Bad Justice from Požega and Radikalna Promjena from Zagreb..
while Bad Justice and Demant are represented here with their live recordings, from R. Promjena we have five of their probably the best songs (at least to me!..), don't know where they are recorded and if they are published anywhere else besides this tape.. all begins with song Industrijski Raj, definitely my favorite from them and ends with Radikalna Promjena, I think theirs most legendary song.. for those who don't know their music was anarcho punk mixed with many other genres from reggae to crust combined with male and female vocals.. very politically engaged lyrics and great music.. sound is harsh and raw, of course, not any fancy production here, just like it was usually for bands from here in that time..

for the end anarcho punk crusties Demant.. also with live recordings (first time I heard for this material and some songs from it).. sound quality is similar as Bad Justice's, maybe just a little better, but who cares! if you are upset about sound quality you don't even need to read this.. from them here are 14 tracks + P. a statement by the Villa Amalias squat in Athens regarding the events of the past days..

For the past three days the wider area around Villa Amalias has seen events that any intelligent being living in the year 2011 would have thought to come out of a science fiction scenario. But this is not the case. This has been the reality for the past three years more or less: some have not experienced it, some do not want to see it, some are stupor and refuse to see it, some become complacent — and yet some seem to seek it.
Under the pretext of the condemnable —by all of us— murder of the 44 year old Manolis Kantaris on the junction of Tritis Septemvriou and Ipirou street, some people decided the time had come for them to cleanse the area from those strange and grubby creatures (according to them), the migrants, launching an indiscriminate pogrom.
From the very first moment TV stations stepped into a dance around the dead body, ballooning all the wrongdoings of this case, and our well-known “neighbours” made an appearance once again to help the scared residents step out of their doorsteps. Could it be that “golden dawn” is the new name of an entire area of Athens, not yet set because of some bureaucratic issues with its naming? All of a sudden, the death of a man by persons unknown with robbery as its motivation turned into the murder of an entire “nation” by “illegal migrants who act uncontrollably”. The ideal story for the fascist TV scenario writers who long a greek purity they have lost for at least half a millennium (if it ever existed at the first place that is) in order to organise feasts, with their trophy being any migrant that would happen to cross their way.
In a blink, the rules of the game are overturned and from the point where all enraged greeks would condemn criminality and uncontrollable violence in their neighbourhoods, we now reached the point where anything is allowed as long as it is committed by greeks. Mobbing is allowed and so are mass beatings, stabbings, exemplary and throughout likeliness murders — like the one of the 21 year old Bangladeshi migrant [in the neighbourhood of Kato Patisia, trans.] Everything is allowed in the name of fear, survival, imposition and revenge. Cannibalism is allowed, too.
Social cannibalism. The result of dissolved society which refuses, whether willingly or not, to acknowledge the source of all this. To understand that the poverty and squalor never came, nor will it ever come from those from below in this world. Those from bellow are the recipients of a situation that is eternally fed by those above, those holding capital and power, because this is how they safeguard their continuity. The manipulation and subjugation of the world, with social, economic and class criteria, holds for them the balance of the base of the capitalist pyramid.
By beating, stabbing or imposing yourself on whoever you consider to be inferior to you, without any specific logic, based on the colour of their skin or the country of their origin, no financial troubles of yours will be resolved. This, unless we all dream of working day and night at traffic lights, brothels, as street traders, builders, or cleaners for a crust of bread. Neither your social troubles will be resolved, since you will always have an inferiority complex —since you have it now too— inferiority and depreciation of your life by someone you consider to be your anterior.
The solution will always come through the social awareness and collective nuclei of resistance against those who truly suck away our lives. Those who convict in absentia those from below in terms of class, condemning them to a total, reciprocal extermination under the veil of order, security and prosperity. The same order and security that sent the young demonstrator Y.K. to the intensive care unit (and another 70 demonstrators to the hospital), following the consecutive murderous blows he received by the uniformed pigs, the executing force of their junto-democracy.
For the record:

For the past 3 days and continuing on from the turmoil that followed the murder of M.K., the squats of the Plateia Victorias area saw some attempts of organised attacks by golden dawn members, so-called “indignant residents” [the term often used in mass media as a euphemism for fascists/racists — trans.] —and don’t you ever dare call them racists!— and cops. Chronologically, the first such attempt happened on May 10th at the squat of Patision and Skaramanga, with the fascists trying to attack the squat aided by cops who threw tear gas to the squatters to force them retreat inside the building.
Immediately afterwards was the turn of Villa Amalias. In all these three days the aforementioned (fascists and cops) tried to attack the squat but they were unsuccessful, as the crouching together and solidarity of those who see part of their self in Villa prevented this aim. In their attempt they found a helping hand, as in all their actions up to date, in the police. Sometimes hand by hand and lined up together, sometimes with the cops in the front and their fascist poodles following behind, sometimes the other time round. In any case this illegal relationship of affection and passion between the greek police and fascists has started to become legalised a long while ago, and it has been blatantly covered up not only by the state (that is, the employer of both) but by the media as well (a faithful contractor and associate of the state in dealing with tasks of social stupor and distortion of events). Or, with the narration of history either cut in half, or distorted. The truth in just three lines is that they came, they got their response —and not only that— and they bolted, because their procurers threw us tear gas. End of the story.
All these “gentlemen” should make clear in their minds that for us, people and ideas are not disposable products or part of some trend that we would change or bin at the first instance. Our responses, from whatever post they are given, will always be collective, dynamic and unabridged — they will not be supported or manipulated by anyone who wants to gain from bodies, whether metaphorically or literally. For us life has no “price tag” to negotiate in the markets of nationalities and their falsified national pride.
We have written this in the past but we do not tire ourselves in repeating it: we consciously find ourselves facing and against any exploiter, procurer and heroin dealer, regardless of nationality. Yet we also know that what is lacking is neither more police (there is an excess of that), the demand for order and security, nor of course the racist propaganda and fascist violence. What is lacking is the courage of the contact and association with what is different, the mutual self respect and dignity, the attempts for cross-cultural coexistence and the (substantial, not para-statal) self-organising, which can heal many of the wounds of our multicultural/proletarian neighbourhoods.

okay, we are back to 'zines.. here we have More Noize from UK, it's 5th issue published in October, 2010.. probably a lot of you knows about this 'zine so I won't spend many words on introduction..
in this num you can read letters, some author's thoughts on hardcore punk scene, big interview with Ydinaseeton Pohjola from Finland, then there is one "more like a casual conversation then the interview" with Raw'Arse, many reviews (records and fanzine, as well.. actually when you read all those fanzine reviews you realize how many paper 'zines is still out there!..), Scum fest and Punk Illegal festival reports, Glam and Discharge gig reports and bunch of photos scattered throughout the 'zine.. also you can read some writings about Swedish hardcore bands: Totalitar, Meanwhile, Skitkids, Avskum and Heratys, which are here like reaction on demands of the readers of this 'zine for more of Swedish hardcore, considering that the author of More Noize is from Sweden but he lives in London..
and for the end, like icing on the cake, a shitload of materials about well known Italian band Wretched (various infos, photos, stories, gig reports and interviews).. if you like this band like I do, I'm sure you will find something interesting for you..
as you can see, a bunch of material for reading.. all that is written with small font on 68 pages..
all in all, really nice 'zine, I like direct and "in your face" style of author's expression and the fact that he is pointing out that hardcore punk is more than just the music..

Anarchist Bookfair in Trbovlje, Slovenia

"Hey, this is an invitation for anyone who would like to attend anarchist bookfair/festival in Slovenia this May.
It will happen between 13. and 15th of May in Trbovlje, small industrial city about one hour drive from capital city Ljubljana. It is a historical sight of many antifascist and workers struggle through out late 19th and entire 20th century. Lately the focus of local people is mostly on the ecological issue. Our federation-Federation for anarchist organizing (FAO)-has a group in the area. Anyway, the main concept of this event is: bookfair with anarchist literature, cultural events (choir of women who sing antifascist songs from our history, choir of old partisans from 2nd world war and their supporters, social theater etc.), market with ecological products, public kitchen, different workshops (about ecological issues, women issues etc.)and perhaps most importantly two big panel discussions with guests from Slovenia and abroad.
On the last day we are planning to have a general assembly where we would write a joint statement from the event that we are hoping will become annual. We are expecting many guests from entire Slovenia, and of course abroad, especially Balkans, Italy and other places. We would like the event to be the meeting point for local people, activist from Slovenia and abroad, a common space of reflection of current situation and our involvement in it.
At this point we can only send these guidelines. If somebody is interested in attending let me know. We would like to host people/groups with anarchist distributions (especially literature), but if somebody has interests in other areas (like workshops) we would be glad.

Copenhagen: Squat The Naval Mine!

"Occupy, share and enjoy the free space of The Naval Mine (Søminen) in Copenhagen. An action to occupy and liberate the area of an old storage facility for Naval Mines and turn it into a social centre. The area is located right next to the Freetown Christiania by the lake in beautiful green surroundings. It's been open for several years and is used daily by picnicking cityfolks, graffiti artists, dog walkers, bird watchers and everyone else. We're gonna keep on using it and open it up in style.
The 21st of may we're having a demonstration and opening of our new space and you're all invited. Come with your tent, camper, tools and dreams. Your imagination is the only limitation - not the cops!
We know we're in violation of the private property when we're opening up the area, but we cannot obey laws that's allowing beautiful places to decay while the city is suffocating. We hope that authorities, cops and owners realize that everyone wins if we're allowed to show what we can do with the place while everyone will lose if we have to use plan B, C or D to get it.
We're removing the barbed wire to make room for the flowers in our city.

Pžbuka was all girl punk band from Karlovac, Croatia, active only for two years.. but even in such a short period of action they had a big role on Croatian hc punk scene, I think.. music was filthy and raw hc punk.. considering on current active similar bands, they remind me a little on Beyond Pink from Sweden, only something slower music..
here is some story about them translated from This is Karlovac not L.A. and also a short video from their live show in EKH squat, Vienna..

"during the postwar inflation of the bands here, 4 girls saturated with flood of male bands decides to try out with playing.. after a couple of months of negotiation we find a rehearsal room and shortly after that an band (Monosaharidi) with which we will share it, because in that time we wasn't had any equipment except the instruments.. 1st rehearsal was held in February, 1996 and that is how Pžbuka was officially born in following line up: Silvia - guitar, Tina - drums, Struja - vocal and Đez - bass..

now we can say that those beginnings wasn't so bad, considering the fact that the only one who have some music knowledge and experience was Silvia and we others were starting from the beginning.. but after only a few rehearsals we had some our own songs and we even start with live shows..
after a while Gabi joins the band as a 2nd guitarist, so all until Silvia's leaving from the band we play with 2 guitars.. in meantime Struja starts to sing in one more band, Starla Dick which were looking for rehearsal space and they joined us in atomic shelter..
shortly after, under the suspicious and never dismissed circumstances we leave the shelter and move to another "hole" - Partizan.. in that time were a bunch of other bands playing there and this was really the nest of Karlovac's underground..
in summer of 1997 Pžbuka records their 1st, but also the last demo "The Power Muscles of Vagina".. after that we all separated (fax, job, moving to England for doing babysitting...) so Pžbuka stops with work..
Pžbuka had a few gigs in Croatia and a gig in legendary Vienna's EKH squat.."

evo nakon skoro točno godinu dana novi Nonsense koncert.. opet se vračaju na prošlogodišnje mjesto zločina, Evergreen u Požegi, opet koncert organizira udruga K.A.M.P. dakle dobar provod je opet zagarantiran!..
Nonsense će predstaviti svoje nove stvari i mali pomak u svom zvuku..
jedino ovaj put ostali bendovi nisu baš po mom ukusu, ali nema veze, vidimo se (najvjerojatnije) tamo!.. nadajmo se samo da se Nonsense nisu pretvorili u melodični punk bend, heheh..

last week I received an email from this Brazilian band with kind request for help them out with spreading the word about their CD.. then Toni (vocal) send me some more info about the band and download link for their release..

"hardcore punk band with direct and simple lyrics.. that's the way how to define a style of band Dissidentes.. formed in 2002., have gone through several formations but always retained the style of sound that is characteristic for this band.. mainly influenced by international and domestic bands from the 80s and 90s as: Dead Kennedys, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, Replicantes, Ratos de Porão, Black Flag, Os Cabeloduro, among others..

the band has recorded 3 works.. The first demo entitled "Brazil: Hunger, misery and exploitation," was recorded live and has 14 songs, without any great sound quality.. however, just "Do it Yourself." This recording was made in 2004 and still represents the old formation, with André on vocals..

the 2nd released record is the demo "Sedentary", recorded in 2005 and it already shows more maturity of a members and the recording quality than the previous demo. This cd has 5 songs which were half recorded live before some line up changes.. Toni, who is now leading vocalist has left the guitar in hands of Royal who returns into the band, after leaving the band due some personal problems.. Mario continues on the drums and Alex Sub on bass guitar..

The third material is the band's album "Dissidentes", where recording was made per channel on all 13 tracks, showing that the band took a few more rungs on the ladder of evolution, and was released in Avare Carnarock in 2008, where it was welcomed by the local crew..
we also had participated on some compilations, among others on Lixeria Humana vol. 6 and Abecedario Punk/Hardcore vol 2 which follows the line of Lixeria Humana.."

DISSIDENTES - Dissidentes (2008) CD

so Dissidentes are band from Sao Paolo, Brazil and here we have their album from 2008.. about their influences you can read more in the info above.. their music can be described as classical old school punk/hardcore on the way how it was played back then in '80s, it means fast and simple.. on this CD we have 13 songs in decent production, but still with a lot of the d.i.y. spirit..

also considering on their name (and the names of the songs, like False Images, Prejudice, Only Hits Woman,etc...) you can easily conclude about what are their lyrics, even if they sing on Portuguese..

maybe they are not something that I would listen to every single day, but if you want to give your ears a rest of all this crust noise this is the right stuff for that.. it goes fine with me..

squatting action in Amsterdam (3.04.2011.)

On April 3rd, there were two attempts to squat different buildings in Amsterdam. This all took place within the context of squatting being illegalized. The first attempt one took place in the early afternoon. Several dozen people guarded the door while people opened the building. Just as it would happen before the squatting ban, the police were allowed into the building. Surprisingly, the police allowed the building to be squatted.
The second attempt happened in the early evening. Fourty people surrounded the door to the building where the squatted apartment was. The rest of the apartments had a rent-cap (or the Dutch equivalent) and rent could not be raised. The squatted apartment was going to be put on the ‘free’ market which simply means that rent could rise and fall with the ‘free market’. Because of this, the residents of the building supported the squat.

Supporters on the ground distributed leaflets to all the neighbors, explaining what was happening and reminding them of the new squatting ban.

After a small contingent of police arrived, banners were dropped from the front of the building, one of them reading ‘WHEN HOUSING IS A PRIVILEGE, SQUATTING IS A RIGHT.’ The residents of the building went out on their front porches and drank wine, staring down at the crowd and smiling, pleased to be part of the effort.

After a few hours, four vans of riot police (ME—mobile entity) arrived. After ordering everyone to leave over the van loudspeakers, the police got out of their vans and began to beat people away to the edge of the block. Because the residents were so supportive, they did not allow the police into the building and the front door had to be forced open. There were no arrests because the squatters had escaped by boat (an event unique to Amsterdam).
The squatters and anarchists of Amsterdam are in a tricky and overall shitty situation. Squatting is now illegal, making everything difficult and confusing. For example, one squat was allowed to happen, the other was not, with no reason as to why. Also, there are is a government sponsored campaign called ‘anti-squat’ that has been gaining steam since the 1980’s.
This campaign allows a few people to pay cheap rent and live in empty properties just so that they are legally occupied and cannot be squatted. There are over fifteen thousand people willingly taking part in this ‘anti-squat’ effort that is very similar to strike-breaking in the US. The squatters and anarchists are repeating the tactics they have inherited from the 1980’s onward but are now in a completely different enivronment. There is now an urgent nead for more creative and confrontational tactics.

The Autonomous Center in Cologne-Kalk exists nearly since a year. During this time thousands of guests used and created this special place in more than 250 events. The first cinema of the neighborhood was founded, in many workshops skills were being developed, the weekly unemployed-consultation helped many people in their problems with the Unemployment-agency, concerts gave the opportunity to local bands to make free appearances, exhibitions met their public, political groups used the house for their work – everything self-organized and uncomercial, without a cent from the city. The idea of a place, where people can enjoy and create culture without depending of their walle, found many new friends.

The squatted ex-cantine of the company KHD had been left empty from the mucinipal savings bank (Sparkasse) and abandoned to its expiration. Without the squatting the result would be more years without use. The squatters were seeking from the beginning the discussion with responsible political persons. In many conversations not only the idea of the Autonomous Center was presented, but also a plan of use and financing opened the way for a cultural center in Cologne.

The mayor named Roters and the municipal savings bank are against a meaningful utilisation of Wiesbergstreet 44. Under flimsy excuses and through desinformation of the public the Autonomous Center is to be evicted and the building to be demolished, without that further plans exist. As allready with the Barmer-quarter in Deutz, the next "most-expensive-parking place-Germanys" is being prepared.

We, friends of the Autonomous Center, Leftists, Syndicalists call out for the demonstration "For an autonomous center! - Everything has to be done by ourselfs" on Saturday 2nd of April 2011. The houses can be evicted, the buildings can be replaced by parking-places – the idea for a self-organized life and culture can not be demolished!

as music itself, lyrics are also full of darkness and misery, as it is commonly for such bands, but written interesting and good.. Jason told me that this is their demo, but considering on great production and band drill this could be one proper album..

anyhow, worth to checking band, that's for sure..

one more band from Požega, Croatia, active in '90s.. in short, raw hc punk on old fashioned balkan style with m/f vocals.. thanx to kktz on some info and on forwarding download link for their discography to me..
besides this CD-R I know that they released the demo "Vlast Stvara Mržnju" and they appeared on numerous compilations all over the globe, from which I would single out legendary "Bullshit Detector vol. 4"..

"anarcho punk in old Požega's style, formed in '92 in next line up: Edita - vox, Dinko - bass & vox, Kktz - guitar & vox, Želja - drums.. then the sound was mostly peace punk.. then line up changes in: Edita - vox, Kktz - vox, Gera - guitar, Dinko - bass, Robi drums and it comes to more hc and crust influences..
in the last line up Lolić from Našice changes Gera on guitar, also the sound is changing a little, but still remains real underground punk..
after that Dinko and Edita went to study and then live in Zagreb and the band stops with work..."

yes, I'm fuckn in love with this band, lately!!.. Last Legion Alive from Hellgium, you had an opportunity to get to know them better by reading the interview with them in some previous post here at blog..
their music is just perfect mix of some heavy as fuck mid-tempo parts and some fast crusty thrashing, voKILL sounds like coming from dark depths of hell.. what do you need more!??

the news are, 1st, that their split LP with Hellstorm (also great crust band from Greece) is almost finished.. the LP will be pressed at the beginning of March and it should be out by end of the March.. and 2nd, and even better, they will hit the road and visit us again here at Balkans.. after their last year euro-tour when they were visited Croatia and Slovenia this year they will hit it even further to Serbia, B&H, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece.. the tour will be from September the 30th to October the 13th.. be sure to check the tour dates at their my space page, and don't miss them when they come in your town/country.. also there you can hear one song for the upcoming split 12"..

besides this euro-tour they will play on this years Play Fast Or Don't festival in Hradec Kralove, CZ, together with their countrymen Visions Of War and bunch of other great bands..

band from Nova Scotia, Canada formed in 1991(!?) under the name Disabuse.. members were Drock - guitar and vox, Amanda - bass, Gerald - drums and Pete -guitar/vox.. but after some line up changes (actually, numerous changes of 2nd guitarist) and when they realized that there are many bands calling Disabuse all over the world they changed their name into Existench..

soon they released their first demo under that name The Cost Of Living, then few years later split 7" with The Chitz and legendary 7" Divisions.. after those releases they started to appear on bunch of split tapes, 7", CDs, some official ones and many bootlegs, also their songs shows up on bunch of compilations from all over the globe.. members of the band were active on some other projects and bands at the same time (like System Shit for example...).. Gerald, the drummer was also the editor of Guttural Response fanzine..
my first touch with Existench was when I listen their demo The Cost Of Living on tape, and first thought was: "what are those animals on vocals!?" and I remember that I like very much their drumming.. their mix of grindcore and crust was something new to me and it was most originally band in that time which I ever heard of, I think.. and this demo, actually remained their the best and favorite release for me all up to this days.. songs like Pointless, Directions, Divisions, Tolerance, Blinded and others just don't goes out of my head..
lyrics were also very good, intelligent and were the unavoidable to notice part of this band.. they singed about the things they were worried about, about awful business world which is part of every culture, about stupid people.. all in all very engaged themes said/sung on clever and direct way..
everyone who were listening to them knows what about I'm talking about and all you others who didn't heard of them, give a little bit of effort and try to find some download links for their releases (it's really easy job, 'cause there is a bunch of them on the net) and give yourself a pleasure with listening this old school gods..

I don't know exact time when they had stopped with work, but as the members says: "Existench never really broke out, just faded away!"

the Subart crew in last half year was contributed significantly to the enrichment of the Kranj's alternative scene and the two series of the inspection visits, in December and January, didn't stop them.. despite sanctions the club is working on, a financially exhausted.. similar situations have recently been numerous; today alternative is shaken by contracts, numerous inspection services which are not harvested on the whole, but on the functioning individuals which they criminally expose and financially exhaust.. as it's known, there is no need for legislation, also that the principles that are set are firmly anchored.. and it proves that day after day, with a program which is performed in the premises which we like.. we are here because we love this scene, because we love this music and everything what is built around it..

riots in Berlin as Liebig 14 housing project eviction begins (2.2.2011.)

Police turned up in force at 4am, as well as protesters – mainly residents from other housing projects on Rigaer strasse in a show of solidarity against the eviction, despite the below freezing temperatures.

The building at Liebigstraße 14 was formerly a squat, and became a housing project in 1990 following the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

By 4:30am hundreds of protesters were outside Liebig 14, and at 5:00am police began to push them back in every direction. They also entered the surrounding buildings to gain access to the rooftops to monitor the situation as it unfolded.

One man was arrested and separated from his dog which police then tied to a metal fence down a side alley .

At 7:30am the police completely removed the press from within sight of the entrance to the building – at least 100 metres up the road. Vans were strategically positioned around the entrance to the squat so the media were blocked out. One policeman can be quoted as saying, “Today there is no fucking press freedom.” They were aggressive in pushing people back with many aggravated but ultimately unable to do anything to get the shots they wanted.

Just before 8:00am the police entered Liebig 14 through a window to the left of the main door. A battering ram and other tactical unit lined the streets – it was unclear what role they played however as they were out of sight.

At 8:15am the press were moved further back in a more aggressive manner.

Protesters began to run riot in the surrounding area, ending up on Frankfurter Allee before marching to Frankfurter Tor. Here riot police moved in trying to contain people with not much luck. Missiles in the form of rocks and bottles were thrown at the police, smashing on their helmets, whilst firecrackers disorientated some.

A number of arrests were made in a unnecessarily brutal fashion.

Tactical units in the form of armoured vehicles and water cannons turned up en masse, so much so that at one point all you could see were lines of police vehicles.

Most people began to leave the area around 10:00. Further action in solidarity with the residents of Liebig 14 is happening throughout the day.

The police managed to get into the basement and ground floor but are having issues progressing with the eviction as the residents removes the stairwell and have barricaded access from the roof. The fire brigade were also called as a bath tub was found full of water with electrical wires hanging out.

The residents of the housing project have been struggling with the owner of the building Suitbert Beulker and manager of child protection agency Unna, Edwin Thöne, over the termination of all the housing contracts. Negotiations with politicians to buy the house with the help of a foundation failed as they claimed they had no say in the matter.

Even politicians such as interior senator Erhard Körting and the senator for city development, Ingeborg Junge-Reyer who have been pushing a neo-liberal housing policy turned a blind eye and recently abolished rent benefits for people on unemployment benefits (Hartz IV). Holger Lippmann, manager of Liegenschaftsfonds (the Berlin real estate holding company), refused up to the end to negotiate honestly for an alternative space for the project.

Other housing projects in the area such as Rigaer 94 and nearby Køpi remain as self-governing free spaces.

hmmm..I think that there's no need to say anything as an introduction about this one.. they are legends, playing extreme hardcore/power violence since 1996.. one of the most energetic bands that I ever saw live.. there's nothing more to say except I'm honored to have this interview with them here..
thanx goes to Iny for answering this my questions in very short period.. enjoy!..

c.f.: Hi!..for the beginning please introduce yourself to the readers..

Iny: Hello, nice to meet you :) My name is Iny and I'm vocalist in Gride. I'm 37 years old, 2m tall, grey-haired man.

c.f.: tell us what were the main reasons for forming a band at the beginnings, what was your expectations and intentions with the band, and did you accomplish any of them?

Iny: Gride has played since 1996. In the beginning we wanted only play music, which we liked... extreme hardcore and grindcore. We were a bunch of people who wanted play this music, but who hadn't any experience with it. So we started practicing and after some time the line-up settled on 4 people: Cert – drums, David – guit, Zdenda – bass and me as the vocalist. We practiced hard and in August 1996 we played first gig. We were pretty nervous, but gig fell out very well, so it was motivating impulse to our activity. But we didn't imagine what we will reach with band in the future. We were satisfied we could play gigs here in Czech Republic and record some stuff. We haven't any goals, schedules or expectations. I think it changed when we went to first „tour“. There were a few gigs in Austria, Slovenia and Italy with our friends of Mrtva Budoucnost (extreme fast core from Brno). I think it was in 1998, maybe in 1997. We appreciate the potential, which Gride could have and we started doing things more deeply and knowingly. But I still have to say that I have imagined never, where we have come now...many records, tours and on other side even band members... I and Cert are only original members of Gride. There were about 6 another persons, who played in Gride and left band or were kicked off. It has been simply always, but I'm satisfied with position, where Gride is now. So I think I can tell that we fulfilled our expectations and I don't lie when I say that we overcome them :)

c.f.: Gride exists since 1998 (if I'm not wrong?!) and that's pretty long time.. from where you gets inspiration for making this kind of music for all that years and such a great performances at your gigs?..I was watching you guys in Zagreb last year, and you were awesome, great energy..and that isn't only my opinion, many people i've talked told me the same..

Iny: Oooh, thanks for your commendatory words :) In Zagreb we were a bit tired after long trip from Skopje, we were some problems on the way... So I'm glad you didn't find anything of it during our gig :) So we are professionals probably :) The show in Zagreb was great, we needed such good gig, to shake our depression off. :) Zagreb is nice city and I would like to come back some time in future.

We have existed since 1996, but as I said, first two years we were active mainly in Czech Republic. The long existence of band brings many problems in years. As I said in previous question, we have had many line-ups changing. It was still the same...after years of playing, people lost their energy, invention and became unreliable etc. So we have been forced to find new people to replace them. I think it's paradoxical thing, which keeps Gride alive. We have changed line-up again recently. Maxeek, our bass player, decided to leave band after US tour. He played a few gigs else until we found new guy instead him and in October he left the band. The main reason were, that he was busy with his family and his another band Dezinfekce. He has little daughter and wants to care for her. Our new bass player is Michal, our friend from thrash death band Pressboil. He is the youngest guy of us, so he has a lot of energy and I hope he will move us somewhere.

c.f.: what about your records? I know that you have many of them, but do you have favorite one or at least one more dearest then others? Any label with which you like to work most with?

Iny: I like most of our records. Of course they have many mistakes and I would do some things differently, but I take them like a testimony of era, where we recorded them. In my opinion, split LP with Mrtva Budoucnost and Horizont udalosti LP are the best. I think, the latest stuff – Horizont udalosti and split EP with Thema 11 – is the most complex and solid. The best label for cooperation for us is Insane Society Records. Barvak – the boss of this label – is our very good friend and the cooperation with him has been always without problems.

c.f.: recently you was on USA tour? How it was in the States, are there any differences in gigs, people, etc. there and here in Europe?

Iny: It was really great… the best tour ever and one of the best gigs in Gride’s history. We toured USA with Pretty Little Flower two weeks and although it was pretty physically intensive, I take these days like one of the best in my life. We started tour in Houston and we were surprised with nice and friendly people. One guy brought original Czech beer for us, so we felt like at home. The people were fucking crazy and mosh pit was pretty hot. People in USA are wilder than in Western Europe and most of shows were awesome. In some venues we were almost scared, that people damage our gear, because they were very violent and wild. But everywhere people were really friendly, they thanked us for coming, asked us about tour and opinions about USA, drank beer with us etc. We read some tour reports of European bands before coming to USA and we were afraid, that anybody won’t be interested in some fucking group from Middle Europe, but contrary was the case. We were exoticism for them and they supported us very well. The last gig on Maryland Death Fest was simply awesome. Imagine venue for 4000-5000 people, half of crowd moshing and big applause after each song. We were satisfied and very very happy. D.R.I, who played 1 hour after us dedicated us a song, it’s honour, which means for me a lot.

c.f.: your view on diy underground scene in Czech Republic?

Iny: In my opinion, the Czech scene is really good and strong. Of course there is some atomization to genre subscenes, but I think that generally the scene sticks together. The scene has changed a bit in recent years. It is less political and more about fashion, it’s more inconstant, but it’s natural influence of surrounding society. There is also evident an influence of internet. The scene is a bit oversaturated by many gigs, bands and records, so there are less people on gigs. They choose their bands and subgenres and come only to gigs of time-proven bands. But it’s the same all around the world. In the contrary I think that there is better situation in Czech than in Western Europe. There are still normal gigs where is more than 100 people and it’s very good attendance in European average. There are also good and world’s famous labels in Czech Republic: Insane Society Records, Obscene Production, Malarie Records… They release even records of famous abroad bands, for example Excrutiating Terror, Bloody Phoenix, Birdflesh, Venomous Concept etc.

c.f.: where bands in Czech usually have their concerts, and how's situation with squatting scene there nowadays?

Iny: The gigs are usually organized in pubs and clubs in Czech Republic. There are also some cultural collectives, who manage independent venues, for example Vrah in Roznov pod Radhostem and Discentrum in Prague. Squatting scene have dissolved in recent years. The last squat Milada in Prague was evicted in 1999. There were many squats in 90-ies. The most famous was Ladronka, where many great foreign bands played. It was regular stand point most of European tours. Ladronka as the squat existed between years 1993-2000. Nowadays there aren’t any squats in Czech Republic. There have been some attempts to occupy some old houses in recent years but they were quickly suppressed by police, security agencies and owners of the houses. The most famous squatting action in recent years was an attempt to occupy the building of former bath on Apolinarska Street in Prague in September 2009. There were some struggles with police and many people were detained and were incriminated. The squatters defended themselves, saying they did not plan to stay in the occupied building for long. Their act was only to attract public attention to the problem of abandoned and dilapidated houses, they pointed out. Most of people stay on the side of state and police and squatting has minimal support of them. So I think the squatting situation in Czech republic won’t be changed in the future.

c.f.: Internet – good thing or pure evil? Do you miss good old times of hand written letters, tapes, paper zines? Can you compare today global diy scene and the scene before some 10 years ago?

Iny: Like most of things in our life, internet isn’t neither pure bad nor pure good. You have to take it only like tool, which can help you. Then internet can do your work easier and simpler. When I remember how it was hard to organize tour before internet era, I cannot believe, that we could go somewhere. Or try imagine how long would be done this interview in pre internet era. You had to write me normal letter first to ask if I’m interested in doing interview. Then you had to wait for my answer, then you sent me questions and I replied it hand written on paper… It would take minimal 2 months. Now we can do whole interview in two weeks. Organizing gigs, releasing records, information etc are the same. Internet provides you to touch many people with making minimum effort. On the other side, internet brings many negative things like fucking bullshits in internet discussions, which makes so called dauntless internet hardcore warriors, who know everything in the best, but who hasn’t done anything ever. They can only criticize, but you hadn’t seen them to organize gig, release record, play in band, do zine etc. These internet clever fellows are toll, which we have to pay for its benefits.

c.f.: tell us something about the members of Gride? Are they active on some other bands/project, and what occupies your daily life?

Iny: All members of Gride are active in other bands. It’s a problem sometimes, because we have to schedule our activities agreeable with other bands and families. It’s almost unsolvable situation, but we have to face up to it and to do compromises.

Cert (drums) plays in thrash metal band Radiolokator and old Czech death/black metal band Avenger (they have played since 1991). Pufffy (guitar) plays in Dezinfekce (hardcore, long time existing band too) and P.B.J.P. (band playing cover songs of old punk and hardcore bands, for example Dead Kennedy’s, Exploited, Dyaglo Abortions, Discharge, M.D.C. etc). Paaya (guitar) plays in Uchazim (experimental punk/hardcore) and Retroprotest (similar band to P.B.J.P., but they play only cover songs of Czech punk and hardcore bands). Michal (bass) is into Pressboil – young thrash/death metal band. I (Iny) sing also in Radiolokator and do a zine called Trhavina.

c.f.: Gride is one of those bands singing mostly on their native language, and one more proof that bands on diy scene don't need sing on English to be well accepted by people around the world.. tell us why you decided to sing on Czech?

Iny: It wasn’t primarily “political” decision, but we were pushed to it by circumstances. I take lyrics as important part of our production and my knowledge of English isn’t so good to write good lyrics in this language. So we decided write lyrics and sing them in our native language. It’s natural for us and I thing that it’s better. Secondly it’s also attitude against dominion of English in hardcore. I don’t expect that Spanish, Russian or Japan band will sing in English. I think it’s more interesting when the band gives to music something especial, original and it could be minimal his native language. When Oi Polloi played in Czech Republic, they saw some graffiti on a wall: Fuck the system and they were surprised, why it isn’t written in Czech language. They are right, why we could use foreign language for expressing our thoughts? Only because our favorite band uses it? And are they really our own ideas or only second-hand pose?

c.f.: something about your lyrics, about what they are and what is more important to you as a band lyrics or music?

Iny: It must be in the same level. You listened to music because of music, when you would know something new you could be read papers or book. But many people cannot listen to music with stupid und uninteresting lyrics. I know many bands, which play excellent music, but they haven’t good lyrics in my opinion and they lost my sympathy with it – for example Rupture I love their music, but their lyrics ridiculing holocaust etc are too much for me. Or all that porno gore stuff, it’s fucking silly and it repels me in first sight, even if that bands could play good music, this imbecile attitude don’t allow me to discover it.

c.f.: your sound is pretty original, but you, for sure have some bands that influenced on your music. which bands are those, and do you play any covers at your live shows?

Iny: There were different bands in our different periods, who influenced us. In early days we were influenced by classical gridcore and hardcore bands like Napalm Death, Brutal Truth, E.N.T, Doom, Agathocles, Rot, Unholy Grave, Heresy… Then we discovered charm of power violence and were influenced by Spazz, Capitalist Casualties, Lack of interest, Crossed Out, Infest etc. Then it has started being a bit complicated. How the line-up changed, we have started to take more different influences from favorite bands of new members. Nowadays I cannot say, who influence us and in my opinion isn’t easy, to compare new stuff of Gride to any other band. We are trying to create something original and new with many influences and each member of band brings his own part. I’m still mainly in power violence and experimental hardcore, but I’m listen to many music genres, so I’m open to everything.

c.f.: when we can except some new Gride release, tour maybe?any future plans?

Iny: We should release split LP with Voetsek from California, but we have canceled this project recently. So we are going to record stuff for B side and to release it as full length LP. We would like to release LP in summer next year, but we will see. We schedule also tour in September. We would like to tour Austria, Italy, France, maybe Spain and Germany. We are going to start scheduling tour in February, so detailed information will come then.

BRUTAL ADDITION / SENSELESS / NONSENSE - 3 way split tape (199?)

when I found the download link for this rare release, a week ago, there was no end to my great enthusiasm.. I'm pretty sure that it's impossible to buy this tape nowhere any more.. I listen to it already the whole last week and I wasn't tired with it yet, and think I won't be so soon!..
so this is 3 way split tape released by DMK Music from Spain which brings you 3 great bands for destroying your speakers and brain cells.. don't know exact year of releasing of this, if anybody knows, please leave a comment..
first we have here Brutal Addition from Spain (members were involved in DMK Music label).. 9 songs from this 3-members act with some noisecore punk sound, including intro + outro and You Suffer, Napalm Death cover.. I'm not some expert for such kind of noise so I can't describe them better.. and the rip of the tape is something fucked up at their side..
then we have Senseless from Požega, Croatia.. about them I wrote something before and other releases of theirs you can get here.. in short, raw hc/crust massacre, fuckn brilliant 4 songs by them.. first one (probably, one of theirs the best) "Ubijena (u ime križa)", then the massacre continues with two fast as fuck songs "Free" and "No Thanx!" and for the end, to settle down things a bit, fuckn hymn "With God We Crust"..
and finally, to conclude this beautiful story we have Nonsense, also from Požega, Croatia.. most of you knows how they sounds today, but here you can convince yourself how it was done some 15-17 years ago, at their beginnings.. four tracks by them, 2 from "Who's Your Enemy" reh/demo and 2 from "Always Against" demo.. legendary song "Baki gdje si ti?" is here, of course!.. grind/noise hardcore, raw to the bone!.. sound quality on Senseless and Nonsense side is perfect!.. you won't be regret if you download this piece of treasure.. the file includes scan of the cover, too..
tomorrow I'm going to buy a blank audio cassette to make my own tape, that's for sure.. DIY!!

okay, this is split of two great travel zines, On't Road #13 (about previous releases of this zine you could read in some older posts) and Go Fuck Yourself #1 (editor of this one was active before with Duhhh zine).. 20 pages each.. language is, of course, english..
from O.T.R. side we have an report from the darts tournament, football articles, 2-pages review of Manic Street Preachers album, some other record and fanzine reviews and an extensive Pisschrist/Sotatila Euro-tour report from 2008 (among some other countries, they were visiting Croatia and played at Monte Paradiso festival, for which author says, when he saw young east-euro punx, that this was the closest to the 1984. that he ever been.. also he describes the morning after on this festival like "zombie apocalypse..., ...and there were some seriously fucked up people wondering around..." I think that he described that very well, heheh..), article about band Leatherface and report from the gig of Teenage Bottlerocket..

already 6th number of this zine (like it was yesterday when I was reading first number of it..).. the main news are that this issue will be officially printed and become alive like paper zine..
the most space is dedicated to Punk Illegal collective and festival.. that means many of interesting readings related to that great project from Sweden, from interviews, reports from this years festival to some facts and information about the collective..
this time font is impaired to minimum and on 52 pages you can read a tons of material.. from interviews this time here are: Al-Thawra, Zudas Krust (very big and great 'view), Spotlicks, Kansalaistottelemattomuus (yes they are from Finland, did you have doubts on that?!), Power Is Poison, Asta Kask, E.A.T.E.R., Burnt Cross, Sangre, Cow Mag zine, Jason Vomit and with people from Punk Illegal crew.. besides those interviews you can find also report from Punk Illegal festival 2010, reviews, Wolfrunner info, interesting poll on the theme "what do you know about Swedish punk" (for which the author send some mp3's of Swedish bands without names of the songs to some people and their task was to unriddle which bands are those) and some more author's articles..
for the end, I really enjoy reading this zine more with every new number.. I think that Schizo is good example how good zine progresses in quality from a number to a number..

ŠAMAR DRUŠTVENOM UKUSU #1 fanzine

this is for all you nostalgic bastards out there who remember the 90's with pleasure and often regretting for those better times..
this zine was edited by Željko i Tanja from legendary Unutrašnji Bunt! (Inner Revolt! O.E.), and it's published in autumn/winter 1998.. It's written on Serbian language, pity for all of you who don't speak/understand Serbian..
it's really big, on even 60 pages you can read some letters, interviews with Politikill Incorect, Delo Ludila, Panic Overdose (interesting is that I looked for anything of P. Overdose for a while, and in only 2 days I've got links for some of their releases, and only day after got the link for this zine with P.O. 'view in it!..), The Tofu Love Frogs, infos about No Strike, M.G.G. and Wiesenthal, report from the 5th Orto Punk festival, columns, article about fanzine Obrijane Žene (Shaved Woman), a lot of art (poems, articles, drawings, comics...) and record + zine reviews.. all in all, pretty much material for reading..
yes, and I must mention that here I have read the best review ever.. it's for 3-Way Cum - Killing the life LP, and roughly translated it goes something like this: "extremely good band from Sweden surprised me very positive and convinced me that there are still true Scandinavian bands which are able to offer surpassing raw energy like Mob-47, Discard or Anti-Cimex.. 3 Way Cum sounds approximately as if you inject 10ml of adrenaline to the drunks from Doom and torture them with electric shocks at a voltage of 150, and threaten to them that they will not drink, not even drop of alcohol, never again.. this LP, besides 16 new songs, contains their previously released EP Battle of Opinions.. and overall impression is that this is one of the best crust punk bands in the world, at the moment.. this is a lesson of how to play.." fckn great review, isn't it, hehe..
at the end I think that this is good example of how zines has been made in those times, with a bunch of this 90's spirit..
I've had really enjoy reading this one so once again thanx to the author for providing this link to us..

this time on 40 pages you can read about author's trip to St. Kitts & Nevis at Caribbean Islands (yes you read it well, Caribbean Islands, for real), Sotatila and Ruidosa Inmundicia UK tour, Hero Dishonest Germany tour, hilarious drunk adventures from stag weekend in Lisbon, Portugal, article about Manic Street Preachers, vinyl and fanzine reviews, reactions of few people on previous issue of this zine and some other travel articles..

all in all, really nice zine with a lots of readings, especially if you like traveling (and if you don't, reading of this zine would awake the desire for traveling in you, I'm pretty sure in that) with simple and for reading pleasurable layout.. highly recommended by me!

here we have 6th number of zine coming from Cambridge, UK.. one more which is published in paper form, today when there are less and less paper zines..
in this issue you can find interviews with Magrudergrind and The Afternoon Gentlemen, a gig report, Australian scene report, one-sentence reviews of war movies and records, full length reviews, some news - the funny ones and some serious about books and zines + some articles about music, football, etc, and great comic (which you can see below).. all that spiced with a dose of dark humor..
I have the impression that this zine rejects some fixed standards about what content must be represented in a punk zine so if you want more relaxing and not so usually zine for reading this is for you..
zine is free of payment so if you find yourself on some gig in Cambridge there is a chance that you get your real copy for free, and for others here is the download link with its PDF version..

BAD JUSTICE

Bad Justice, another one band from Požega, Croatia which was active in 90' and early 00'.. they called their music the Core, hard core with punk, trash and grind influences..

the story goes something like this:
Bad Justice was formed back in early 1993 when Apatridi (also legendary band from Požega) had lost their rehearsal place.. so they gather together some equipment and start with practicing..
first line up was Peći (vocal), Marko (guitar), Oli (guitar), Gera (bass) and Zuba (drums).. in that time they played hard core punk and the lyrics were totally irrelevant to them and their ideas were unclear and incomplete.. their first concert had took place on an underground party in Požega on the april the 7th in 1993.. after few more gigs in Požega first line up changes started to happen, as well as their musical expression.. after a couple of them lyrics become more politically engaged, about destroying of the nature, against serving obligatory army service, police, etc.. all that in accordance with situation in society and their everyday lives at that moment.. don't forget that this was time of war and they wasn't accepted very well, by the most of local population which was very nationalist, with such lyrics and attitude..
in beginning of the year 1995 they recorded their first album "Greed" on tape with the following line up: Kero (vocal), Ivan (guitar), Jasko (bass) and Oli (drums)..
next few years the line up still continue to change, and some girls are coming in band like vocals (I don't know their names, sorry.. think Lidija and Sanja, but not sure..)
after numerous gigs that they played all over Croatia in the 1996 (only 1 year as war finished) they hit the road to Slovenia, together with Totalni Promašaj from Serbia.. this tour was named "Preko zidova nacionalizama i rata" (over the borders of nationalism and war, on English) and that was only the part of the same named action which was done after the war by underground bands, zines, record labels and some "associations" from ex-yu region.. also the first common tour with bands from those two countries after the war..
a year after that tour the split 7" of those two bands was published..
I don't know when exactly they stopped with playing, but in 2002 few old members Gera, Oli and Zebec reinforced with File and Adrijana are forming Nepravda (which on English means bad justice) and that was pretty much the same band because they were playing all their old songs.. after few concerts and appearances on some compilations they also stops with playing and members continues with their other bands..

P.S. Gera had left some more info in comment box: girls in Bad Justice were Lidia, Sanja on vocals and Ivana on bass.. later Lidia left the band and Jolanda from Slovenia replaces her.. they also had two euro tours with Radikalna Promjena..
